Learning to Listen: PRISM Quartet

The PRISM Quartet will present a cross-section of music that demonstrates the saxophone's remarkable range of expression in the classical mode. Praised by The Philadelphia Inquirer for its ability to 鈥渕ove effortlessly between styles,鈥 the program will include A Schumann Bouquet鈥攁n adaption from Robert Schumann鈥檚 Album for the Young鈥arranged for the PRISM Quartet by the Pulitzer Prize-winning composer William Bolcom. The program also includes music by Stephen Sondheim, French composer Pierre Max Dubois, folk songs from Latin America, and more recent works by Roshanne Etezady, Michael Daugherty, and Matthew Levy.
In the salon tradition, the musicians will discuss the program with audience members, answering questions before and after the performance.

Learning to Listen 2019鈥20
The Coleman Sisters' Learning to Listen Series was established in memory of Elizabeth Coleman Mooney 鈥48 and in honor of Susan Norton Coleman 鈥45, who wanted future generations of students to derive the same great pleasure from music as they did. The Series features virtuosic musicians in a salon-like atmosphere with tasty refreshments and informative conversation. Learning to Listen events on the Bryn Mawr campus are free and open to the public.
