The Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research Honors 100 Notable Alumni As Part of Centennial
For 100 years, ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æÓ°Òô’s Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research has prepared students to enter the field of social work.
As part of its yearlong centennial celebration, the school recently honored 100 of its most notable alumni at a Center City Philadelphia luncheon. The important work done by the more than 4,480 graduates of the school has greatly improved the health and well-being of individuals, families, organizations, and communities throughout the Greater Philadelphia Region, across the nation and around the globe.
Among those honored were:
- Allyson Y. Schwartz, MSS `72, former Pennsylvania U.S. Representative and state senator; president and CEO, Better Medicare Alliance
- Merle M. Drake, MSS ’82, founder and CEO of Supportive Older Women’s Network
- JoAnne Fischer, MSS ’73, executive director of Maternity Care Coalition
- Gloria M. Guard, MSS’78, MLSP ’78, executive director of People's Emergency Center (retired)
Bryn Mawr president Kim Cassidy, Board of Trustees Chair Ann Logan '76, GSSWSR Dean Darlyne Bailey, and Annie E. Casey Foundation President and CEO and Bryn Mawr Trustee Patrick T. McCarthy, Ph.D. ’81, were among those to give remarks.
