Biography

Baru is a first-generation college graduate and attended Moravian College (now Moravian University). He earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in Africana Studies. He was a member of the men's track & field team, the polemarch of the Omicron Kappa Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., a member of the Black Student Union, and a Senior Resident Advisor. He served as a Residence Director at Shippensburg University, where he also completed his Master of Science in Organizational, Development, and Leadership, concentrating in Higher Education Administration. Currently, he is finishing his Doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration at East Stroudsburg University. Baru most recently served as a Senior Career Development Strategist, supervising professional staff and providing holistic one-to-one career & academic coaching to undergraduate students. He has experience in career coaching, academic advising, residence life & housing, and other student life focuses. Committed to equity and inclusion, Baru holds several certifications, some include Safe Zone Training and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for the Workplace. In his free time, he enjoys playing basketball, listening to Hip-Hop, R&B, & Neo Soul, as well as hanging out with friends and family. Baru serves as the junior class dean and will support students as they explore experiential learning opportunities and prepare for senior-year goals/expectations.
