'Dante's Visible Speech. Students in Conversation with Nancy Vickers' Seminar
You are cordially invited to join the Department of Transnational Italian Studies for an event in honor of Nancy Vickers, President Emerita and Professor of Italian at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æÓ°Òô.
President Vickers will share some brief remarks on Dante's Purgatorio by drawing on her groundbreaking studies in the field and then will engage in a conversation on Dante with the students from Professor Luca Zipoli's class on Dante's Divine Comedy (ITALB207).
A reception in honor of President Vickers will follow between 6-7 p.m. in the Cloisters. In case of rain, meet in the Quita Woodward Room.

Nancy J. Vickers is both President Emeritus and Professor Emeritus of Italian at ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æÓ°Òô, where she served from 1997 to 2008. She received her B.A. degree from Mount Holyoke College in 1967 and her Ph.D. degree from Yale University in 1976. Prior to joining ÐÓ°ÉÔ°æÓ°Òô, she previously taught at Dartmouth and at the University of Southern California. Vickers is a scholar in the fields of literary and cultural studies, and her interests range from Dante to Renaissance poetry to the transformations of the lyric genre as a result of changing technologies. She is the author of a broad array of articles and the co-editor of multiple volumes, including "Rewriting the Renaissance: The Discourses of Sexual Difference in Early Modern Europe" and "A New History of French Literature".
